Organic Development Corporation, Inc. (ODC), is a wholly-owned Guyanese for-profit Corporation, established under the Laws of Guyana, Companies Act of 1991 (Section 67) as a Private Limited Liability Company. We are a start-up with a vision to assist in facilitating the Guyanese Diaspora, International Businesses, Local Guyanese entities, and the Government to develop strong partnerships in support of Guyana’s development.
Guyana’s time is now.
We must find it in ourselves to move our country beyond hope by leveraging the treasures of the homeland to deliver a better life for all Guyanese.
Guyana is now the world’s most prolific finder of light crude oil and so far, is determined to have more than 8 Billion Barrels of Reserves in her offshore reservoirs. Eight Billion Barrels Reserve signals a dramatic change in our economic fortunes and the well-being of her citizens. Still, it will require us all if we will use the opportunities to fuel the development of the other sectors of the economy to our full benefit. But…
…our vision of development cannot be achieved without Human Capital.
The post-independence years and challenges of newly independent countries during the cold-war period saw Guyanese migrating mainly to other Caribbean Countries, North America and the United Kingdom.
It was known as the “brain drain”, and it had a very debilitating impact on the development of most small economies. The benefits of the brain drain went to the industrialized countries, while the countries from which the migrants came received remittances and barrels of food and clothing. Repatriating the training and experiences that Guyanese abroad and their children have acquired is a critical strategic approach to rebuilding our Human Resource Capacity. Still, it must be supported by a thoughtful and flexible policy framework along with a viable operating platform to enable an effective diaspora engagement program.
Organic Development Corporation Inc is the platform that delivers the facilitation supported by the framework of an established government policy to help spur and encourage the repatriation of Guyanese talent to build its Human Resource capacity. Engagement of the talent at home in combination with the Diaspora along with foreign entities bring together a cultural mix, and experiences in a variety of areas that can only help Guyana move forward.
It is against this background of necessity and the rekindling of interest by Guyanese who remain connected to their homeland and are now returning with increased frequency and in more significant numbers that the national capacity can be increased to respond to its developmental needs.
